Legacy Society Member

Sunni Ball describes herself as a late bloomer. She went to school in her forties and received a master’s degree in clinical psychology. For the last seven years, she has devoted her skills to CASA’s Domestic Relations program, serving children and families who are affected by severe domestic turmoil. Sunni is also a member of CASA’s Legacy Society – a special group of donors who have included CASA in a will, trust, or other planned gift.

She says, “I very much believe in the mission of CASA, and wanted a way to continue to support CASA after I leave here for retirement and then when I pass. I would hope that CASA would be able to continue ad infinitum and our community would never be without this amazing resource.”

Sunni has three grown children and three grandsons of whom she is very proud! She shares a blended household with her daughter’s family, which she says keeps her young. Her oldest son is a local executive chef. Her youngest son completed law school in January, graduating cum laude, and is in private practice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. “The amazing thing about that kiddo is that he is deaf,” she said.

We asked Sunni if she thought she would find benefits by joining the Legacy Society. She said, “You know, at first I thought not, because I do not have a great deal of money to leave, but then I made up my mind that it didn’t matter. I found there was a way I could get an insurance policy that would go to CASA after my death, and then I felt that being part of this group was a value to me and to my family. I brought my daughter to the last Legacy Society get-together. I think through that experience she understands better why I do what I do.”
