TLC Committee

As a result of a cultural assessment survey taken by staff, volunteers, and board members, CASA of the Pikes Peak Region developed the TLC Committee. TLC stands for Teaching about differences, Learning how to respect them, and Changing the way we look at the world.

The mission of the committee is to promote discussion and responsible action within the organization in order to understand people and cultures with an emphasis on the people we serve.

Recent activities hosted by the TLC Committee include a discussion hosted by Silver Key on age discrimination, a presentation by the Southern Colorado Aids Project, staff participation in the “Crossing the Line” exercise, and partnership with UCCS for the annual White Privilege Conference. The committee facilitates discussions on topics and articles relating to diversity and serves as a resource to all volunteers with diversity related case issues.

The TLC Committee is made up of CASA staff members including RoseMary Jaramillo, Dolores Martinez, Jill McCormick, Jon Whiteman, Roz Stouffer, and Mittie Pedraza; CASA Board members including and Paul Perea; and community representatives, Rick Dean, Karen Hughes, and Debra Washington.
