Mittie Pedraza, Beloved member of the CASA family

Mittie Pedraza is a beloved member of the CASA of the Pikes Peak Region family. After receiving a Juris Doctorate in Law from Mercer University in Georgia, Mittie began her career in health care law and corporate development in the health care industry. But it has been in the nonprofit world where Mittie hit her full stride, putting her talents to work for the good of others.

Mittie worked for 14 years as CASA’s program director providing leadership, creativity, inspiration and humor, to staff, volunteers and collaborative partners. CASA of the Pikes Peak Region is unique among many CASA agencies across the country as we have multiple programs beyond our core Dependency & Neglect (child abuse) program, including the Supervised Exchange and Parenting Time program, Children and Families in Transition, Milton Foster Children’s Fund and The Hanger. Overseeing so many moving parts is a huge job which Mittie handled with grace. One of her most significant accomplishments was to stand up the Peer Coordinator leadership model at CASA.

Last year Mittie transitioned out of her full time role on the staff to a contract position as the lead trainer for incoming volunteers. She is not only an effective teacher, Mittie has a keen ability to inspire and encourage others to realize their full potential as strong, effective advocates for children. Her passion and enthusiasm for lifelong learning is infectious.

Mittie is also an active Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer herself, currently working on behalf of two teen boys. In so many ways Mittie inspires us to take part in making our community a place where all children and families can thrive.
