Mike Matkin, Milton Foster Children’s Fund

Mike Matkin decided to get involved with CASA of the Pikes Peak Region and almost immediately his talents for working with foster children were recognized. Mike found a perfect fit as a volunteer with CASA’s Milton Foster Children’s Fund committee.

The Milton Foster Children’s Fund (MFCF) provides foster children in El Paso and Teller Counties with opportunities not funded through existing agencies or programs, allowing them to be nurtured, educated and enriched just like other children, and grow into healthy, contributing adults. This supplemental program enriches the lives of foster children providing opportunities in extracurricular activities such as music, sports and the arts.

The North Pole Event, the first Sunday in June, is a premier function hosted by The North Pole and The Milton Foster Children’s Fund. The park is open, for free, to foster children and their friends and family. Attendance tops 1000-1200 guests and Mike considers the looks on the children’s faces his “pay-day.”

Mike has also been a key player in the launch and success of The Hanger.
