CASA Participates in the Emerging Leaders Development Program
In an effort to facilitate civic engagement and the development of diverse leadership in Colorado Springs, CASA has partnered with the Emerging Leaders Development Program (ELD).
The ELD program is a collaborative effort among El Pomar Foundation, community leadership development programs in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and minority-focused community organizations. It offers community leadership development training and outreach activities that extend into the broader community. El Pomar also provides scholarships for selected individuals to take part in these leadership programs. Program participants and graduates are involved in a variety of civic activities within their communities and are leaders in the non-profit, governmental and corporate sectors.
Since the program began, 130 ethnic minorities in Colorado Springs and Pueblo have participated in leadership development programs. 124 have graduated and El Pomar funded leadership training for 93 emerging leaders.
CASA of the Pikes Peak Region Executive Director Trudy Strewler was eager to participate on the ELD outreach taskforce. The taskforce is a partnership with the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region and selected nonprofit organizations’ CEOs to facilitate an increased level of ethnic minority opportunities to serve on civic/nonprofit governing boards in Colorado Springs.
