2011 Light of Hope® Fundraiser

To generate awareness and support in the fight against child abuse during Child Abuse Prevention Month, CASA of the Pikes Peak Region hosted the Eleventh Annual Light of Hope Fundraiser presented by El Pomar Foundation and Wells Fargo on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Antlers Hilton Hotel. Over 1700 people attended the event which raised over $347,000 for local children.

This year's Light of Hope program honored former CASA child, Niki and her foster/adoptive parents Chris and Shanna Kohr. Advoacte Peggy Watt was instrumental in looking out for Niki and her sister Kayla's best interest through the court process and ensuring a safe, permanent home with he Kohr family.

The need for CASA’s services remains strong in our community. In 2010, El Paso and Teller counties combined received over 13,000 reports of child abuse and neglect.

CASA of the Pikes Peak Region is very proud of the help our volunteers provided last year for nearly 900 children. We also realize there are hundreds of children still waiting for our services. Financial support from this year's Light of Hope event can help us move closer to our goal of serving 100% of children in need.
