SUMMARY:Helping Children Thrive
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 2nd from 9am-12pm \nCASA Training Room \nPlease use The Hanger Door for entry and exit \nPlease RSVP to Brittany Santos at brittanys@casappr.org \nThis class examines what children need to reach their potential from three perspectives: their interests and how these are nurtured (Sparks); assets to draw upon as they grow (Developmental Assets); and how children experience unconditional love (The Five Love Languages of Children).  We’ll look at research findings from studies of three million kids\, draw from writings of child/family psychology professionals\, and share relevant life experiences. We’ll also look at Matthew Kelly’s writings on “becoming the best version of yourself” and Zimmy Zimberg’s “All Kids Need – A to Z.” \nThis class will provide insights and resources for anyone wanting to help children thrive\, whether they are struggling or doing okay. Findings are presented with handouts that can be readily shared with foster children’s birth parents or relatives\, foster parents\, and/or case professionals.

SUMMARY:2021 Volunteer Appreciation Event
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for CASA’s 2021 Volunteer Appreciation Event! \nWe are so incredibly grateful for the wonderful work our volunteers do in this community.  You are on the front line\, delivering on our mission\, with passion\, commitment\, and determination each and every day!  And you have continued doing this work through a GLOBAL PANDEMIC!!  That deserves a celebration! \nObviously 2021 still looks very different than what we were used to prior to the pandemic\, so are continuing to hold off on one large in person event.  Instead\, we are planning three smaller in-person gatherings that you can choose from. \nThese events are for volunteers in every CASA program: Dependency & Neglect\, Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time\, Life Long Links\, The Hanger\, Milton Foster Children’s Fund\, Children & Families in Transition\, and office volunteers.   \nThe Garden is CASA’s newest neighbor.  Please come join us at this beer garden\, and we would love to buy you a snack from the food truck and visit for a bit.  You can park for free in the CASA parking lot and walk to The Garden on the corner of Costilla and Nevada.  The Garden has been a great neighbor to us\, and we look forward to supporting them as well. \nPlease RSVP by emailing Crystal Erickson crystale@casappr.org to let us know which day to expect you. \n\nTuesday\, August 10th (1:00pm – 3:00pm)\nWednesday\, August 18th (2:00pm – 4:00pm)\nMonday\, August 23rd (4:00pm – 6:00pm)\n\nStick around after the event and stop by the CASA office to reacclimate yourself to our in-person world again.  Some of our newest volunteers have never been inside\, and we would love to give you a tour!
