Events & Opportunities at The Hanger

Through The Hanger and Milton Foster Children's Fund, CASA offers many opportunities for children and teens in foster care. Check out the ongoing opportunities in the blue box on this page or sign up for one of our events or classes listed in the event calendar below. UPCOMING EVENTS:

Shopping at The Hanger

The Hanger is open on Saturdays from 12-3 with no appointment needed. Due to the pandemic, there is a limit to capacity of the store meaning if it is busy you may have to wait a few minutes to enter and shopping times could be limited. If you have a pre-teen on your case who is too big to get clothing from the Kid's Closet, they are welcome to shop at The Hanger as soon as they wear adult sizes.

Graduation Party

For teens graduating this year or receiving their GED between September 1, 2020 and August 31, 2021 - please contact Jill as soon as possible for information about this year's graduation party!

Emancipating Teens

If you have a teen on your case who is emancipating, we have a local supporter with tons of household items, furniture, electronics, and more to help foster teens make the transition to living independently. Email Jill for more information.

44th Annual Foster Children's Festival at the North Pole

The North Pole event is coming back for 2021! Instead of a one-day event, registered guests can go to the park once during June. Please visit this page for more information and to register by May 26.

Ongoing Teen Opportunities

College Prep

Do you have a 9th-12th grader on your case? Contact jillc@casappr.org to get free professional help preparing for college, community college, technical schools, etc. It isn’t too early to start preparing for their future or too late to apply to college for the fall!

Free Bikes:

Bikes Peak is a teen owned and operated project here in the Pikes Peak Region that collects bikes for kids and teens in foster care. Provide a little bit about yourself (age, height, favorite color) to be matched with a bike. You can apply here or email bikespeak02@gmail.com. Have a bike you aren't using? They take donations, too!

Guitar Lessons:

Guitar lessons are currently cancelled until further notice. Under normal circumstances, they are held Monday evenings at The Hanger. If you have a teen who would like to learn how to play, please contact Jill.

Senior Pictures:

Free senior pictures are available for teens in foster care who would like photos for their senior year/GED. Please contact Jill to get signed up for the 2021-2022 school year.

Tutoring:

CASA can help provide tutors to teens that need extra help in school. Don't get too far into the school year before getting the help you need to succeed! To request a tutor, email Jill with the subject and grade level.
