Teen Classes & Lessons


Guitar lessons are held Monday evenings at The Hanger. If you have a teen who would like to learn how to play, please contact Jill.


Please join us to learn about getting in shape, eating healthy, and yoga. We would love for you attend all classes in the series, but it is not required. Dates will be 5:30-7pm at The Hanger on Mondays – July 1 and 15, August 5

Senior Pictures

Free senior pictures are available for teens in foster care who would like photos for their senior year/GED. Please contact Jill to get signed up for the 2019-2020 school year.

Summer Camps

Split Pine Ranch Holistic Therapeutic Equine Center’s (HTEC) Youth Equine Program

Split Pine Ranch is holding summer camps just for youth ages 12-18 in foster care! Participants will gain knowledge about themselves and horses while actively engaged in learning, experiencing, solving problems, assuming responsibility, being creative and constructing the meaning of relationships with horses and other participants.

Dates of 2019 Programs are Tuesday to Friday, 8:30-12:30 daily. Three choices of camp weeks: 4-7, July 9-12, or August 6-9.  Cost is $250 per week and one week can be covered for those who qualify for MFCF funds.

What will you be doing this summer? Start thinking about summer camps now!

Camps fill up quickly so if you would like to attend a summer camp, please identify a camp and apply to MFCF for funding at  as soon as possible. To qualify for MFCF funding, you must have an open D&N case through El Paso or Teller Counties, not live with biological mom and/or dad, and not have received MFCF funds in the past year. Camp Shady Brook is already full but Eagle Lake Camp and Camp Jackson still have space. Sign up soon! Split Pine Ranch is holding an equine camp just for teens in foster care. Please ask Jill C. for more information. Pikes Peak Community College also has awesome summer camps from cooking to coding! A small list of local camps can be found here.

The Hanger & Foster Teen Employment 

The Hanger is normally open the first and third Monday of each month from 5-7 PM. It is also open from 1-4 PM on Saturdays

Foster Teen Volunteers Needed to Work at The Hanger

Shifts take place once a month on Saturdays from 1-4pm. Build your resume and get a $10 gift card. Apply at The Hanger today!

Drivers Ed

Drivers Ed and driving experience is a crucial skill for teens, especially those who will be emancipating, and we have partnered with Master Drive to provide different opportunities. MFCF funding may be available by applying here.

  • 2 full hours of training with a driving coach at the Master Drive Driving Range Facility. These 2 hours are very concentrated with many repetitions. Your student will learn car control and precision, how to brake in crisis situations without losing control, and the dynamics of a 4,000 pound vehicle in motion. – $150
  • Rental car from Master Drive if you do not have access to a vehicle for this class – $100
  • The 30 hour online Drivers Ed class – $74
