Teen Programs

GUITAR LESSONS

Guitar lessons are held Monday evenings at The Hanger. If you have a teen who would like to learn how to play, please contact Jill. Guitars may be available for those who do not have their own.

TEEN LIFE SKILLS

** Please note we will have TWO teen life skills classes in March and none in April as Pikes Peak Workforce Center will be presenting on March 30 to prepare students for an April job fair for young adults **

1) College and Job Corps

Saturday, March 9 at either 1-2 or 2-3 at The Hanger

Come listen to information from UCCS students, what you need to do to prepare for college, and a CASA advocate from Job Corps will present their opportunities.

2) Job Readiness

Saturday, March 30 from 1-2

A representative from Pikes Peak Workforce Center will lead the class on writing a resume/filling out job applications, preparing for interviews and job fairs, body language/communication/clothes, and the resources the Work Force Center has, particularly getting the teens signed up in their database.

Art Class

Saturday, March 9 from 2-3 PM at The Hanger

Monday Hours for The Hanger 

The Hanger is normally open the first and third Monday of each month from 5-7 PM! However, please note, The Hanger is closed on Monday February 18 for Presidents Day.

Foster Teen Volunteers Needed to Work at The Hanger

Shifts take place once a month on Saturdays from 1-4pm. Build your resume and get a $10 gift card. Apply at The Hanger today!

Let Jill C. know what subject and grade level is needed so we can match you with someone right away. Don’t get too far into the school year before getting the help you need to succeed!

Drivers Ed

Drivers Ed and driving experience is a crucial skill for teens, especially those who will be emancipating, and we have partnered with Master Drive to provide different opportunities. MFCF funding may be available by applying here.

  • 2 full hours of training with a driving coach at the Master Drive Driving Range Facility. These 2 hours are very concentrated with many repetitions. Your student will learn car control and precision, how to brake in crisis situations without losing control, and the dynamics of a 4,000 pound vehicle in motion. – $150
  • Rental car from Master Drive if you do not have access to a vehicle for this class – $100
  • The 30 hour online Drivers Ed class – $74
