Board Member Spotlight: SUSAN WILKLOW

Susan Wilklow, who is the president of local CPA firm, Wilklow & Associates, has been a long-time supporter of the CASA mission.

Wilklow’s passion for CASA’s work stems from her own childhood. She feels blessed to have come from a tight-knit family with strong values and because of this is called to help children who are less fortunate.

“We are a community made up of individuals and the only way to make our community better is to help the individuals less fortunate than ourselves,” she says.

Wilklow first looked into becoming a CASA volunteer back in the 90s but as a new mom with a growing finance career at Ford Credit Company, it wasn’t the right time.

She kept CASA in her heart though and when she was invited to the Light of Hope fundraising lunch in October of 2017, she jumped at the opportunity. There at the event, she ran into a former colleague from her Ford Credit days – Angela Rose, CASA’s Executive Director.

The two discussed how to get Wilklow involved and decided that with her background as a CPA, CASA’s Finance Committee would be a great fit. She sat on that committee for a couple of years before becoming the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Today, she is the Vice Chair of the Board and is slated to become Board Chair next summer.

As a tax expert, Wilklow describes CASA to her clients as an ideal philanthropic opportunity because of the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit which qualifies CASA donors for a 50% credit on state taxes.

Wilklow hopes her background in accounting will help enable CASA to serve even more children in the future.

“The organization itself is very strong financially so I would want to continue to maintain or exceed where we are today in terms of that strength,” she says.  “That strength will lead us to serve more children and that is where I hope my efforts will go.”

In her spare time, Wilklow enjoys tennis and golf. She hopes to participate in CASA’s 2^nd Annual Fore The Kids Golf Tournament in the summer of 2027. She has two adult daughters of whom she is very proud. One is a lieutenant in the military and resides in Virginia. The other manages a team of ten with a consulting firm in Dallas.
