Eight new volunteers are ready to strengthen families in SEPT program

Eight new community volunteers took an oath at the El Paso County Courthouse last Thursday and officially became Volunteer Facilitators in CASA’s Supervised Exchange & Parenting time (SEPT) Program.

Taking the oath is the final step for new volunteers after they complete 30 hours of training on mental health, substance abuse, cultural awareness, domestic violence, post-separation battering tactics, and other topics.

The new volunteers are now eligible to work shifts in the CASA Family Visitation Center where they’ll ensure a safe environment for kids to visit with non-custodial parents when there is a court order in place for visits to be supervised.

Five of the new volunteers will work out of CASA’s Colorado Springs office and three of the new volunteers will facilitate visits in CASA’s Teller County office in Woodland Park.

Congratulations new Facilitators: Desire’ Alvarez, Marlee Heitz, Zachary Hoffa, Devon Jesen, Ben Reyes, Cheryl Reyes, Lauren Whitmore, and Maria Wolinski.
