Twelve foster kids to get CASA Advocate following latest swear-in
![]()
Twelve new Court Appointed Special Advocates (or CASA volunteers) took an oath given by Magistrate Pearson at the El Paso County Courthouse on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
It was the final step for these new CASA volunteers who have just completed two weeks of training on trauma, resiliency, poverty, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and other topics.
The new volunteer advocates will now be assigned to an open Dependency & Neglect case within the 4th Judicial District and will advocate for the best interest of children who are involved in the family court and child welfare systems because of abuse or neglect.
These advocates will be consistent, positive role models in the lives of children who have gone through trauma and whose lives are in chaos. CASA extends a huge thank you to everyone in this community who stands by the sides of these vulnerable kids.
Anyone who wants to make a difference for a child in this capacity can learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer at one of these upcoming Volunteer Orientations.
- Volunteer Orientation at CASA on Oct. 13
- Virtual Volunteer Orientation on Oct. 22
