Waypoint Bank has contributed $18,000 to CASA through Give! Campaign over 14 years
Anyone who has lived in Colorado Springs for much time at all has probably heard of the Give! Campaign which kicks off on Nov. 1 each year. The campaign, founded by the Colorado Springs Independent newspaper back in 2009, exists to invest in and encourage philanthropy to benefit local nonprofits.
CASA of the Pikes Peak Region is one of those nonprofits.
The campaign has changed countless lives here at CASA as a major revenue stream for the Milton Foster Children’s Fund program. In fact, since 2009, Give! Has brought in over $300,000 for that program which awards funding to foster kids for things like music lessons or sports camps.
A significant reason for CASA’s successful involvement in the Give! Campaign is our partnership with Waypoint Bank. This partnership exists because Becky Akers, Senior Credit Officer for the bank’s Colorado locations, is a passionate supporter of CASA.
“I joined the board of directors of CASA in 2012. As I learned more about the mission, heard the stories, worked with the dedicated staff, and spoke with volunteers over my next six years on the board, I realized what a huge difference this organization makes in our children’s lives,” Akers says.
The year 2026 marks the 14th consecutive year that Waypoint Bank has kicked off the annual Give! Campaign for CASA with an Inspiration Gift (formerly called matching grants). Inspiration gifts are early donations which are shown on each nonprofit’s specific Give! webpage to set the tone and build momentum for everything that follows.
Since 2012, the community-oriented bank has given a total of $18,000 to CASA through Give! Campaign inspiration gifts.
“Waypoint Bank supported me on the board and has supported CASA ever since. We are proud to partner with such an impactful organization,” Akers continues.
CASA is grateful for Akers’ and Waypoint’s support. Check the Give! Pikes Peak webpage on Nov. 1 for an early look at the campaign’s 17th year.
