FEBRUARY 19: CASA Office Closed

The CASA office will be closed on Monday, February 19 in observance of President’s Day.

FEBRUARY 22-23: Trauma-Informed Practices 

The Denver Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is presenting two days of workshops for anyone who works with children. If you’ve ever wondered if there is a better way to help kids who are withdrawn and anxious, or acting out and disruptive, then these two, day-long workshops are for you. FEBRUARY 26: CASA Day at the Capitol 

Wear CASA blue and join us for CASA Day at the Capitol in Denver on Feb. 26. It will be a day to lobby for the best interests of children, attend session of the Colorado Senate and House of Representatives, meet with local representatives, and hear experts discuss initiatives and trends in the Colorado child welfare system. MARCH 12: Informed Supervision Training

Gina Tambone is a board certified SOMB counselor who is trained in preparing individuals in informed supervision. She will present this training which is required for advocates who work with child/youth sexual offenders.  It takes place March 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 at the CASA office. This training allows advocates to take their CASA kids off campus to public places in a cautious and prepared way.  Please RSVP to to save a spot.  There is space for 15 people.  If you have any questions, feel free to speak with your CASA supervisor to check on your need for this training.

MARCH 20: Reactive Attachment Disorder

All advocates and SEPT volunteers are encouraged to attend a presentation on reactive attachment disorder by former Kempe Institute employee and frequent expert witness Diane Baird, LCSW. The presentation will take place at the CASA building on March 20 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and will cover attachment from 0 to 5 years, reactive attachment disorder, and visitation observation. APRIL 19: Life Long Links Workshop

If you’re an Advocate who hasn’t yet attended the Life Long Links workshop, please join us at the CASA office from 5:30 – 8:30 PM on April 19 to gain skills and knowledge about creating lifelong connections for your CASA child. The hands-on workshop will show you how to get started with the family search and engagement work required on all CASA cases. To RSVP, please email Katherine Hastings.

APRIL 24: Peaceful Households Annual Conference

Join Peaceful Households in a workshop-style conference on connecting aces to action. Led by nationally renowned speakers and practitioners Laura Porter and Tim Grove, this interactive event is designed to help individuals and organizations connect the neuro-science of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACES) to trauma informed care.  For more info or to register, click here.
