Children in Transition (CFIT)

Children & Families in Transition (C-FIT)

(Formerly the Parenting Through Divorce Seminar)

The Children and Families in Transition (C-FIT) seminar seeks to create a sense of awareness for parents who may be going through some type of litigation regarding their children (divorce, separation, paternity, post-decree, parental responsibility actions). The Fourth Judicial District partnered with community professionals to develop this program in 1993; it is now mandatory for all individuals going through this type of litigation if they have children under the age of 18. The program seeks to educate parents on the negative effects of parental conflict and issues such as effective and appropriate communication between the parents.

Number of parents served in Fiscal Year 2011/12: 3,259
