18 new CASA volunteers sworn in on Friday

February 25, 2022 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – CASA is pleased to announce that eighteen new volunteers have been sworn in as officers of the court by Judge Dennis McGuire during a swearing-in ceremony over Zoom on Friday.

These volunteers completed 30 hours of training and they are now Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) who will appointed to open Dependency & Neglect cases by a judge so that they may advocate for the best interest of abused or neglected children. These volunteers will be a steady and trusted presence for children who, due to no fault of their own, must navigate the child welfare system.

Congratulations new CASA Volunteers: Kimberly Boatwright, Carmelita Carrillo, Denise Chavez, Emily Dees, Juan Flores, Jimena Hernandez, Donna Hessel, John Hoffman, Laura Johnson, Bruce Leeson, Ima Lindstrom, Tim Lowney, Theresa Pedersen, Brenda Small, Donald Smith, Debbie Truax, Jennifer Walker, and Jayden West.

In a twelve-month period, there are about 900 kids in the Pikes Peak Region who need a CASA volunteer. More volunteers are needed. Any one in the community who is interested in changing the life of a child is invited to attend an upcoming Volunteer Information Session:
