Events & Opportunities at The Hanger

The Hanger is open 12-3 on Saturdays for shopping for teens aged 12-21 who have an open case through El Paso or Teller county or are in foster care and placed in El Paso or Teller County. Closed major holiday weekends.

Through The Hanger and Milton Foster Children's Fund, CASA offers many opportunities for children and teens in foster care. Check out the ongoing opportunities in the blue box on this page or sign up for one of our events or classes listed in the Upcoming Events below. The 46th Annual Foster Children's Festival presented by the North Pole

Graduation Party
Saturday, June 10th, 4:30-6:30 @ Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Ave

If you have a teen in foster care who will graduate, emancipate, or receive their GED between September 1, 2022 and August 31, 2021, we would love to honor them at our Graduation Party! Please have the teen fill out the questionnaire by clicking the button below so we can make the party as special as possible for each teen. RSVP by Friday, June 2nd, with the teen's name and how many people will be attending to mfcf@casappr.org and fill out the survey before Friday, June 2nd.


Anti-Trafficking Event for Teens
Saturday, June 24th, 12:30-2, @ The Hanger
Hear from a trafficking survivor and law enforcement about the risks of being trafficked, signs to look for in traffickers, how to protect yourself and your friends, and more. RSVP by Friday, June 23rd.

Summer Camp registrations are open!
CASA partners with Eagle Lake Camp (wait-list only for boys, some spots left for girls), Camp Shady Brook (wait-list only), Camp Jackson, and Camp Santa Maria to provide a free overnight camp experience between MFCF Funding and Camp Scholarships. Please click on the camp names to be taken to their camp pages which will tell you dates and ages. Spaces fill up fast, so get your MFCF application in ASAP!

Do you have a teen who loves to be outdoors? Apply for a scholarship to Colorado Outward Bound!
COBS’ ASCEND Scholarship Program is providing full-tuition scholarships to students who don’t have the means to pay for the course. ASCEND scholarship recipients will be eligible to attend one of two Colorado Alpine Backpacking courses being offered this summer. The scholarship covers the FULL COST of course tuition. Plus, students can borrow all gear, boots, and most necessary clothing from their gear library. They also offer partial scholarships to any eligible students participating in their Classic and Pathfinder courses. Click here for the scholarship application. Planet Fitness Summer Membership (open to all teens, not just those in foster care)
Starting May 15th, teens between the ages of 14-19 can work out for free all summer long! Plus, we’re giving away $200,000* to high schools and students! Need Furniture or Household Items for Independent Living?

Please email mfcf@casappr.org what you will need and when. We work with multiple agencies who have furniture, household items, and more to donate to youth who are or have been in the foster care system and need help furnishing their apartment.

Teen Workers Needed for The Hanger

If you have a teen in foster care who is interested in working at The Hanger, please pick up an application next time they are in to shop! Teens can work on Saturdays from 11:45 am to 3pm and will receive a $15 gift card for their time. Please note, teens MUST have transportation to and from The Hanger for their shift.

Acoustic Guitar Lessons

Fridays at The Hanger at 418 S Weber St, in the back of the CASA building. Please email teen's name, if they are right- or left-handed, and their guitar skill level (if any) to mfcf@casappr.org. Beginners welcome. CASA has guitars available for teens to take home and practice.

Drivers Education

DHS is currently funding Drivers Ed for youth in foster care. Please contact your foster teen's caseworker to request funding.

College Prep

Do you have a 9th-12th grader on your case? Contact mfcf@casappr.org to get free professional help preparing for college, community college, technical schools, etc. It isn’t too early to start preparing for their future or too late to apply to college for the fall!

Senior Pictures

Free senior pictures are available for teens in foster care who would like photos to commemorate their senior year/receiving their GED. Please contact mfcf@casappr.org to set up your session today.
