Level 1 Parenting Class

A Level 1 Parenting Class is required for all divorcing parents and allocation of parental responsibility cases in El Paso and Teller counties in Colorado that involve children under the age of 18. The class may either be taken in-person or online.

 

You make take the class online at a time convenient to you and you will be able to save or print out your completion certificate from your computer. You may also sign up for the in-person class which is offered the second Wednesday of each month from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. If you have questions, please call the Level 1 Parenting Class Coordinator at 719.447.9898.

PLEASE NOTE: If you pause the online course for any reason and want to restart it at a later time, check your email. There is an automatic email sent to each person after registering which contains your username and randomly generated password. (This email may have gone to your junk mail box.)

SWITCHING CLASSES: If you paid for the in-person class and have decided to take the online class instead, please contact the CASA Level 1 Parenting Class Coordinator at 719-447-9898 or cfit@casappr.org with your first and last name, email address, phone number, county in which you filed your divorce, and case number.

FEE INFORMATION

The fee for both the online and in-person class is $65 per person.

CASA may waive the fee for any individual who is receiving assistance from Colorado Legal Services and can present a Certification of Determination of Indigency (JDF 203) signed by a Colorado Legal Services attorney to receive a waiver, or any individual with a Finding and Order Concerning Payment of Filing Fees (JDF 206) signed by the Court which waives his/her filing fee.

If an individual cannot obtain a JDF 206 or JDF 203, then CASA MAY grant a waiver of payment on a case-by-case basis.  To be considered for a CASA waiver, the individual must be able to show at least ONE of the following proofs of documentation with the individual’s name and a current date listed:  Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, TANF, or Colorado Works. This documentation can either be brought to the CASA office or emailed to cfit@casappr.org for consideration.

The Level 1 Parenting Class Supervisor will contact the individual within 5 days for notification of approval or denial of the waiver.  No waivers will be granted during the in-person class—this must be submitted for approval 5 days before class for consideration.
