CASA congratulates Judge Kennedy on a distinguished career

11032482_10153469254334173_9010523229999732895_nCASA extends our appreciation and congratulations to Judge Thomas Kennedy who is retiring from the Fourth Judicial District after 16 years on the bench. Judge Kennedy presided over 200 abuse and neglect cases where a Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer was working on behalf of the child or children. He recognized the value that CASA brought to these very difficult cases involving vulnerable children, and relied on information from CASA volunteers to help him make best interest decisions on behalf of the children.

Judge Kennedy also participated in CASA’s professional panel as a part of our advocacy training where he always left the volunteers feeling empowered and respected.

“Judge Kennedy is passionate about the safety and welfare of children in El Paso and Teller counties,” said Jenny Bender CASA Executive Director. “His dedication to this community is highly regarded by our volunteers and staff and he will be missed.”

CASA congratulates Judge Kennedy on a distinguished career and we know his passion for service will carry forward in the next phase of his life.

We’re sharing a photo from our archives of Judge Kennedy as he presides over young Dakota’s adoption hearing.
